Kaamulan lasts longer than your average street festival. The celebrations continue for an entire month in Malaybalay City, which has been dubbed the ‘South Summer Capital of the Philippines’.
This year the Kaamulan festival will be held in March and April, with the main events around April 12th 2025. This year's theme is "Spiritual Awakening"
The festival is known for its spectacular float parade, where tribes compete against each other with their elaborate costumes and lively performances. But for foodies, the highlight is undoubtedly the communal feasting that brings families, friends and tourists together to enjoy Kaamulan’s unique culinary delights.
the Kaamulan festival a nonreligious cultural celebration rooted in history and tradition. It honors the indigenous tribes of Bukidnon—Bukidnon, Higaonon, Talaandig, Manobo, Matigsalug, Tigwahanon, and Umayamnon—and showcases their unique customs, rituals, and art forms. From the Kaamulan Street Dancing Competition to sacred Kaamulan Festival rituals, every corner of the city bursts with life and culture.
And let’s not forget the Kaamulan Festival costumes! Imagine intricate patterns, bold colors, and handcrafted details that tell stories of the tribes’ history and way of life. Add to that a bustling Kaamulan Foodfest featuring local delicacies (yes, your taste buds are invited to this celebration too), and you’ve got a festival that ticks all the boxes for culture, fun, and food.
